Dare to Dream: Take your Business to the Next Level

The Dare to Dream: Take Your Business to the Next Level event on Wednesday April 8th, 2015 brought together 18 entrepreneurially-minded members, at host Humeyra Kocak’s Wine Escape, for a night of inspiration and sharing. To start off the evening, we heard Humeyra’s inspirational story of overcoming doubt and fear to open her own business. She is now opening her second wine bar and has no regrets about leaving Wall Street behind! 

As the group sipped wine and enjoyed small bites, co-sponsors Terry Frishman of Culinest and Cheryl Clements of Fundafeast shared their respective expertise on the Lean Stack method of one page business planning and Crowdfunding for food businesses before conducting a round robin discussion. With a 72 percent failure rate for food projects on Kickstarter, we learned that it’s critical to plan three to six months ahead, be transparent with your audience and produce a compelling video to increase the chances of success Crowdfunding campaigns. Terry then led an interactive round robin discussion, where everyone shared their challenges and their one focus goal for their business. 

While the business challenges were diverse, everyone benefited from the supportive advice and the evening of dreaming big!
